Yin as container
Expertise building neural pathways to create new opportunities for living
Embodied practice facilitates awareness, presence and offers choice.
As therapists, we know that Trauma is not just something we talk about, it’s an experience deeply held in the body, into which Yin is the gateway.
The shift in orientation from the external to the internal is the key attribute in being trauma-sensitive. But ultimately, being trauma-sensitive is an approach, not a practice. Every approach needs a practice to ground it, and give it roots. This is what Yin does.
Yin provides containment for the ‘feeling’. Feeling at your edge is the premise for Yin as a practice to be experienced.
SOMA TALK PATHWAY
CURRICULUM
-
Jungian Somatics & Integrating the tension of opposites.
If you have a body, you have a shadow.
And if you practise Yin, you will encounter it.
This module covers tools to work with the shadow in the body, taught through Jungian, Somatic Daoist and Psychodynamic lenses
-
Yin & Focusing-Oriented Therapy
Focusing as a somatic self-inquiry practice has great application in trauma therapy
Its reach is severely restricted in dissociated clients
Can Yin be the bridge to the felt sense?
-
Moving beyond Symptoms - Unburdening the role of symptoms supporting a “felt sense” of being ‘embodied”.
Trauma and the Body -Broaden the awareness of Trauma Responses to include growth
Integrating Trauma safely through a Somatic and Trauma sensitive Lens rather than a cognitive and behavioural approach.
-
Letting Go of the energy stored in the Body and Unconscious patterns of behaviour. What if the anxiety has no current function? The interplay of being in an adaptive and fully present feelable body and acceptance -
The role of the Mind and Body in maintaining Protectors and moving towards self leadership. Polyvagal informed IFS
Body wisdom and Becoming ‘wise’ to the language and interoceptive cues of your Body. A Deep Brain Re-orienting approach to Trauma Release.
4 Modules of 20-25 hours
Transform knowledge into felt experience which you then guide from

This 100 hour training provides a comprehensive immersion into the worlds of embodiment and trauma-sensitive body therapy, with constant application of the theory to concrete practices.
The body is our largest data reservoir and the best tool we have as individual practitioners, teachers, psychotherapists, somatic coaches, wellbeing professionals and facilitators of all kinds. The body is also where so many individuals find they are stuck; stuck in trauma responses, stuck in habitual reaction patterns, stuck in a rut. Not only is the stuckness held in the body, but due to chronic dissociation in trauma-affected populations, it is largely unreachable.
The key tools that embodied, trauma-sensitive practitioners require must focus on making the body reachable. Practitioners must have the knowledge and skills to guide clients to find their own voice, and develop their own sense of having a reliable, feelable, and safe body.
-
You will receive a 200 hour SOMA TALK Practitioner Certification after completion of this Level 2 Training.
-
What is our UNIQUE point of difference in the trauma informed training space?
Firstly, research clearly indicates there is a significant drop out in Trauma Focused CBT, whereas the retention rate in Body led trauma therapies have a much higher retention rate.
Secondly, most therapists report feeling unsure how to APPLY and INTEGRATE body led therapies into the therapy space safely and effectively. Making training lack momentum.
In our 200 hour Practitioner course you will learn the WHY and the HOW to SAFELY integrate trauma from a BODY based perspective not a MIND based perspective.
-
Upon completion of module 2, graduates are welcome to apply for the final 100h module: culminating in a 300h Soma Talk Facilitator qualification.
